-My name is Jonathan Rodriguez and I am 13 years old, I was born in Austin,Texas. My favorite colors are purple, blue, and yellow. My favorite hobbies are playing sports and rapping, my favorite sports are football, baseball, soccer, and basketball. My favorite football team in the NFL are the New York Jets and in NCAA are the Texas Longhorns, my favorite baseball team are the Texas Rangers and my favorite soccer team are the Chivas, and also my favorite NBA basketball team is the Denver Nuggets. About My Topic

-My topic is about climate change

-This issue interests me because its a really big problem that's been going on and I want everybody to know that this issue will effect us in the future.

-I want people to learn that this climate change is really bad for everybody and because if they don't try and help than it can turn out really bad for us and for many animals.

-This issue needs to be addressed because if we don't try to help out and try to fix all the damage it can do to every living thing on earth, than it would be a very huge problem in the future.

Penguins

-Some of the challenges that the Penguins have to overcome is staying a live through the cold weather and not die of starvation.

-The way the weather is and how far away it is to get food and all the predators there around there.

-To survive brutal winters Penguins will need a lot of fur, on there body to keep them warm and they need wings to help them swim away from predators.

-There is no sunlight because thats when its winter and everything is getting cold, it effects the climate by getting cold.

-Well the ice has to be frozen solid because if not it can have cracks and break apart and it can be to cold for the eggs and die also the babies can drown since they dont know how to swim at a young age.

-It can either be to cold or to hot for the penguins to survive.

In the Neon Rider what you have to do is drive your little motorcycle and change its color on the different plat form that you land on.

On the Neon Rider the way you play it is that you use the keys W,A,S,D to move the motorcycle, and use the arrow keys to change different colors and you follow the race until the end without falling.

Mini Game

Was it hard to make your mini game?

It wasnt really that hard to make the mini game, because we already had the code done for us so really what we had to do was to replace the objects with different instance names.

What was the best part of this topic?

The best part of the topic was creating the other new game, which was easy because I already knew what to do, and i had created a spaceship and a star and a meteor which its outer space and what you have to do is hit the star to get points, but if you hit the meteor you lose points, (Go onto my wiki on my projects page to play the game)

The worst part?

The worst part of creating the mini game, were doing the code over, since it has been a long time being in flash and doing the code again, but now that I did it, I already know what to do.

How did gamers use the computer game Foldit to solve the protein folding mystery?

They gamers had created a game that is about a virus called "Aids" and they show them about the new cure that the found about the virus.

Who can particpate in this problem solving and be a player in Foldit?

The person who can play this type of game can be a person who has Aids and is going through the virus, so that way the can learn about it, or how to prevent it.

What can critical thinking do for science?

Critical thinking can do a lot of things for science, like what the game is about, to really think about how to stop the virus of Aids and how to stop it from preventing and keep going with a new protein that they found and could work to stop it.

If you could solve a mystery through gaming for any kind of disease or illness in the world, what would it be?

The illness that I would want to solve for would be cancer, because most people can have it, and its a very bad thing to have that can lead to death, and It would be a great idea to find a protien to cure cancer and prevent it from happening.

Yes,I do play games during free time, but only when I have free time and only when I get done with all my assignments, also when the teacher says that we can play games on the computers.

Which ones do you play, and why are they your favorite?

The most kind of games that I play are most action games where you mostly get to do a whole bunch of stuff on the game and I also like adventures game where you get to do activities on the game and go through different stages. I really enjoy these games because they are very fun to play and sometimes easy to play and beat the levels. I also like these type of games because I get into them and start playing them all the time.

Actually these games that I play really do give me new topics on creating a new game. Because when playing other games you can get new ideas on what to do and almost how to be able to work with the game, like how to play it.

How old were you on 9/11?

On 9/11 I was only 3 years old

When did you first learn about the attacks and who explained the events to you?

I had first learned about 9/11 when I was 7, I remember on the new they were talking about it and how its been 4 years already on the attack, then I remember going to school and reading passages about it, and the teacher explaining what had really happened.

What kind of impact did these attacks have on your life or parents lifes?

Well it really did scare me hearing about it and watching videos, well it really has an impact on my cousins since they always travel around the world and go on planes, but now that what happened that day they had started not riding the planes as much and started driving in cars to out of state.

What was the issue of this game?

The issue of this game is to stop the planes from crashing into the towers and from letting them fall down.

How do you feel about it?

I feel that its a bad game to make and to play because you have to kill other people and knock down the planes and it has to do with the towers that a lot of people died in.

What is the problem with portraying on such an awful violent event through a video game?

It wouldnt be a good thing to play if you have to kill terrorist that had killed many people back then and that the main problem is from stopping them from hitting the plane.

How can you make sure that your web games tell the whole story or teach a lesson in a honorable way?

It would be better if you didnt have to do with explosions and crashing into towers it would be better if the game just only gave out facts and talked about what happened on that day.

2 Single Story 2011

" Danger of A Single Story"

What does it mean to have a 'single story' about a place or community?
To me it means about how you judge the community about what you think about it, but its not what you would really see, and that you think about it the negative way, and not true.

2. Describe a single story you have heard told about your community. What is missing from that story? How could people learn more about that community?
On the article about my community is that most race is African Americans and that its not all good or pretty that it is in the West side where the rich people stay. Also that Most schools in eastside are not passing and that there are mostly drop outs. Most people would learn that our community is mostly not poor but not so good and that its not a good community to live in. Another thing is that people can talk about our community and it can but sometimes not be true on what they are saying, and it can stop people from moving into our community. But really my community is not a bad place, its mostly teenagers that make it bad because the things that they do, but really just because you see something bad in the community, it can only be in that part or area and not anywhere else i the community.

3. Describe a single story you have heard about another community. How did you learn that story? How could you find out more about that community?

In another community like in the West side of Austin is a really good community where all the rich people stay and there aren't any problems out there with anybody. I learned that story because my cousin lived out there and I always used to go to his house and the community he lived in wasn't like my community, when I first went to his house the houses that are around him might not be so good but its not the houses its the people that live there that make the community better.

4. How could a game let players experience many stories about a place or community?

On a game you can give them more information about the community and maybe show them pictures of what it looks like and make them type on how they think that community is but than really tell them about that community.

Globaloria 1 Cyberbullying

What is a Cyberbully?
- A cyberbully is someone or anyone who picks on you, or harass you on the cell phone, in school, or also on any other wesites that have emails that they can send you such as, Facebook, Myspace, Gmail, Yahoo.
When a Cyberbully bully you it could start off by "Gossip" Tellling everybody things about you that are true but that is supposed to be private about yourself.
They can either be bulllying you because either they were bullied when they were young and they are trying to bully you or someone else to get revenge.
To stop being bullied online is to send all messages that they sended you to another grown person that you know and who would something about it to stop it. Also you could block the Cyberbully or even delete him or her.
How do you know he the Cyberbully is?
The person who is being the Cyberbully can be anyone that you do know or that you dont know and can be using another persons picture.

Winding Down

My team name is called JForce and the name of our game is called Critical Condition "A Livin' Atomic Bomb" The game is about pollution like water pollution and waste pollution and also erosion and how to prevent it. We have completed all of the scenes that they are already working and that we got all buttons working. We have mostly everything in our team page almost done we just have to go and upload every scene onto the page, and every thing is filled out with information, and also all the videos are uploaded of our game. We dont really need that much time to finish there are just little errors that we have to fix and thats it but once we finish then we will be done. To try and finish until Friday will be easy since I already know what to work on and its easy to fix the errors and upload the scenes on the page and I know we will be done by the week. The grade that I will give myself for globaloria out of 100 will be a 92 because I really work and finish assignments on time and get them done. The Most Important thing that I learned this year is how to create a game and make it playable, and how to add scenes. I am proud because I got to get the game done and that was one of my most important thing to do for the whole year. I can improve next year by when we have to design a game again to really get to work and finish on time so that way I wont have to rush because I wont have enough time.

The new Nintendo 3DS looks like a fun portable system that you can have and play with. The Nintendo 3DS is also 3D where you can play games that are 3D and you don't need to wear or buy any glasses to watch it and play. The Nintendo 3DS are only in two colors which are Aqua Blue and Cosmo Black. The price of the new Nintendo is only $249.99. The Nintendo 3DS now has an analog stick on it so now instead of using the touch screen you can just move the analog stick. Another cool thing about the new Nintendo 3DS is that it has a camera that can take photos in 3D, and it doesn't matter what photo you take the picture can come out 3D. Also the Nintendo 3DS Stylus can be stretched longer or shorter so that way you wouldn't be close up to the portable while playing. The Nintendo 3DS comes with a 2GB Memory Card that can store the pictures in 3d and the recordings that you can record on it and you can use it to download games from Eshop on the Nintendo 3DS. The last cool thing about the Nintendo 3DS is it also has an Motion Sensor so whenever you move the system around with a twist the system will respond instantly. I think theseNintendo 3DS are cool that I would love to have one and play with it in 3D.

If I created an amazing video game that the people love I would sell it for money so that people can play it, I wouldnt give it out for free then I would be missing a lot of stuff from that when I can make money for it. I would love to add a celebrity to my game maybe like an rapper I would put Wiz Khalifa or a rapper that I really like I Wouldnt put a actor because I really wouldnt know who to put because there are a lot of them and I dont really have a actor that I like. At first I would try and get on commercials and talk about my game and tell whos going to be in it on the things you can play it on maybe on a Ipod touch or a console, show how much it would cost to down load it onto a console. Also I would make youtube videos about my game and talk about it also.

JAPAN EARHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI

There was a huge tsunami in Japan that had happened and a lot of people died and got injured. There were explosions from the Power Plant that were placed there in Japan and started to blow up from the earthquake and also from the water from the tsunami that flooded Japan. When the earthquake happened it caused damage, but until the tsunami started after the afterquake had caused most of the damage and deaths.

To help Japan I wouldnt really want to send money because its still flooded and the people cant really go anywhere but the people do need it to clean everything up. But I want to send materials like clothes, food, and other things that the people who sufferd the earthquake and the tsunami will need.

To help the other kids who are raising stuff for Japan, I would help them raise money since thats what the goal is for them to make more money and send it to the people in Japan who really need it. These kids who are helping had raised a lot of money already and are going to get more to help Japan.

The new PSP is very cool, because now it has a touch screen and has better graphics and pictures. Also now you dont have to move the analog stick to move around you can just move the whole PSP to move around on some games. They have now put better technology in it and its better than any other thing. It will be the best thing since the PSP Go, and more people will want the new one since its a touch screen. The new PSP is the same size as the regular PSP and is just better. I hope I can really get this new PSP because I really want it so bad because I know it will be fun to play and have one of these. Since they made a new PSP thats better hopefully they will make another one in a couple of years that will be even better since they are making and getting new and better technology for systems. Also the new PSP has enternet and even a GPS another cool thing is that it has a camera to take pictures and its mixed with a phone where you can talk and text people.

MAD HOT BALLROOM

What does the word "Teamwork" mean to you?
-The word Teamwork means to me when a group or a team works together on something to get done faster.

-This documentary is true
-1994 ballroom was introduced to 5th graders
-New York City, Manhattan, Brooklyn,
-Don't have school names they are only numbers
-Its hard to choose the finalist because they are all good at dancing

How do you see these students trying to work together?
- They work together by dancing together and getting a long with each other

How important was teamwork for these students?
- They had to work together throught practice and in the final competition and they never gave up and helped each other out with the dance if they dont know how to do them.

What do you think is the main message that these students should take away from this experience?
-Proving to yourself that you can do anything and try hard that you got that far

How will you work together with your teammates in this class?
-By helping them with problems in school and help each other with the stuff that we are struggling on and get it done together

I had played a game on mathplayground.com and its called Jets Ski Addition, the game teaches addition. The game is that you create your own jet ski and name it and control it into levels answering the adittion questions that are giving. I like this game because you can join with other people and play against them to see who is better, when you win you get a trophy and move on to harder levels. The addition is very easy, i think they should change it where you can do multiplication and division since those are a little bit more harder. This game is really cool also because you can play online with others, that you dont know and have fun winning and answering questions.

The game "J. Lo Fur Bully On The Block" is a cool and fun game to play and how to play the game is that you create your own person and have to run towards the animals and hit space to free them before J. Lo gets you. This is a strtegy game because you have to run away and use your head to know where to go. The game was a little hard at first but then it started getting easy because the levels were getting bigger and you have more space to run.
The game " Super Chicks Sisters" is a cool game to play because its kind of like Super Mario but its a little different. The game is that you have to go to obsticle to another before time runs out and you have certain amount of lives. The game is a adventure game because you go to another level and have to jump every where, where you dont fall down. The game was kind of hard because the blocks are small to jump on and you can slip easily so have to keep your balance so you wont fall and if you do then you die and lose a life.

What is the problem that the little boy, Jimmy, has?
-Has a problem with building and stacking things, hes a truamitized boy

-It relates like a puzzle game where you have to put things together or match them together.

I really do like this game how the way its touch screen and its a strategy game. I really do like strategyy games because some are hard and competitive to do, like this game looks pretty hard to do. Its a cool game to play, it does have some confusing parts in it that I wouldnt have not done if I was playin this game. Some of these levels are crazy to play because you really have to use your mind and since its touch screen it would be kind of hard.
If I would put some of this in my game than I would make it different maybe a little harder and make the obsticles bigger and have some cool things that you have to do. I would use this in my game, because I know this would make my game funner when you play it. Also I think people would like playing strategy games and like going through hard levels.

GOOGLE SCIENCE FAIR

- I think it is a very good idea, that people from all over the world can join the science fair and show people what they are good at. I think its interesting because if you win then you can get some very cool prizes.
-I can see myself entering this contest, because I really like being in a science fair even if I don't win it would still be fun to enter and do the project and if i would win then I would be so excited.
-I think to compete with other students from other countries and states would be so cool and exciting. Also I would love to show other people and more people my project to see what they think.
-I think they should change it a little where instead of 60 finalist it should be less probably to 30 or 40. Really I would be focussng on chemistry science because I know I would be good at doing something with that.
